Also known as “Grimley New Workings” and “Grimley Pits”. There are two pools, one is oval in shape and the other is round, separated by a causeway with plenty of public access by way of footpaths. At the far end of the causeway to the west is a thickly overgrown wood, known as “Tinker's Coppice”
Grimley Gravel Pools, Worcestershire, are on the west bank of the River Severn, 4.5 miles to the north west of Worcester, on the A443 Tenbury Road and a mile off the main road near to the village of Grimley. Map reference: SO833597

Take the minor road off the A443 to Grimley Village, then turn right along Camp Lane, towards The Camp Public House. Park on the grass verge on left before the pub, by the Dutch barn, and take public footpath to view the pools. A note of recent sightings is usually pinned to a board near the barn.
If there are sheep in the field, please take care to avoid disturbing them!
There are no on-site facilities, but nearby pubs offer refreshments.
Spring and autumn are exceptionally good with an abundance of waders and estuary species - probably because they use the river as a migration route. The winter months attract many species of duck, including Teal, Shoveler, Widgeon, Pochard, Pintail, Tufted Duck and occasionally Gargeny. A colony of Sand Martins is present during Summer.
Birds nesting in 2002 (with numbers of broods) included: Mallard (9), Canada Geese (6), Coot (12), Lapwing (3), Mute Swan (1), Gadwall (3), Redshank (1), Little Ringed Plover (4), Grey Wagtail (1), Tufted Duck (1), Moorhen (3) and Little Grebe (1)
Some of the other species recorded include Hobby, Pergrine, Spotted Crake, Little Egret, Osprey, Pectoral Sandpiper, Avocet, Wood Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank and Curlew Sandpiper.
