Black Country Urban Park

Black Country Urban Park  is one of four finalists competing for £50 million from Big Lottery in the People's £50 million Contest, which will is decided by public vote. It is the only project wholly within the West Midland region.

Black Country Urban Park will:

• transform Dudley's underground mines and canals into a world class visitor attraction
• create a 12-mile "green bridge park" between Walsall and West Bromwich
• breathe new life into Wolverhampton's canal network
• involve communities in environmental improvements to local green spaces throughout the Black Country, including important wildlife sites like Sandwell Valley, Sheepwash, Saltwells, Fens Pools, Smestow Valley, Northycote Farm, Barr Beacon and Goscote Valley.

Each one of these schemes will improve the local environment, help wildlife and increase opportunities for people to enjoy wildlife. As someone interested in wildlife in the West Midlands, the West Midland Bird Club hope that you will support this bid and its role in promoting the importance of the natural environment in our region.

Voting has ended. The winner will be announced on the ITV news bulletin on Wednesday 12 December.
