Andy Hirst of Birdguides: Diary of a Birdwatcher. As well as working forBirdguides.com |
| Tuesday 3 February 2009 7:30–9:30pm |
Phil Palmer: The Nightjar. Phil's humourous and easy style, added to his in-depth knowledge of this species, make this lecture unmissable, and one which should set us up for the arrival of our own birds on Cannock Chase in a few months time. |
| Tuesday 3 March 2009 7:30–9:30pm |
Mike West: Birding the United Arab Emirates. The Branch AGM is followed by our own Mike West who provides our travelogue for this season. Mike's work for the RSPB, Bardsey Observatory and the West Midland Bird Club makes him one of the stalwarts of Midlands birding. |
| Tuesday 6 October 2009 7:30–9:30pm |
Photography Open Evening Members, and non-Members, are cordially invited to bring along their photographs which will be shown during the evening, along with a couple of reports of projects and other items of Staffordshire interest. We expect to have a digital projector and laptop available for this meeting which will allow photographers to show their better shots. Please have your photos available on a memory stick, and ideally contact the chairman so that a running order can be arranged. |
| Tuesday 3 November 2009 7:30–9:30pm |
BTO Speaker: Celebrating 100 years of Bird Ringing We couldn't let this, the 100th year of the Bird Ringing Scheme, go past without marking it in some way. This talk will present methods and results from the last century's work and look also to the future of the scheme. |
| Tuesday 1 December 2009 7:30–9:30pm |
Jim Almond: A Shropshire Birder's year. This talk is based around Jim's 2007/8 challenges — a Shropshire year list. The aim: at least 150 different species (and as many as possible photographed). It takes us around many of the main birdwatching areas, not necessarily taken during that particular year — the best times to go and what you might find there. Shropshire is certainly not one of the best counties for migrants and rarities but expect a few surprises. |
Ornithology in Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire & the West Midlands county, since 1929.
