Stafford Branch — Field Trips

As well as introducing members to some local sites that they may not have visited before, some meetings have been also arranged to help out with some groups of birds that are not always easy to get to grips with. Further information may be obtained from the branch contacts.

Meet at Gradbach car park hidden down the small side road. The Gradbach start gives us plenty of opportunities to choose from: a moorland stroll for Red Grouse, Curlew etc, or the River Dane valley for riparian birds.

Sunday 12 October 2008
9:30am
Berryhill, Stoke-on-Trent
(SJ904464 *)
Meet at the end of Arbourfield Drive. Easy walking. This return visit to the site should see a few late summer migrants still around and some of the winter migrants just arriving. Although a city site, its wide open spaces, and small stands of bushes attact a good variety of the more unusual birds, with recent visitors including Wryneck and Black Redstart and Red-backed Shrike.
Leader: Nick Pomiankowski, Staffordshire County Recorder.
