About the Water Park

Kingsbury Water Park * is a Warwickshire County Council managed green space, in the North of the county, at grid reference SP2097 *. It has 15 lakes situated in over 600 acres of country park.

The West Midland Bird Club has been involved in advising on the development of bird habitats at the park for some years.

WMBC Information Centre

Thanks to the kindness of Warwickshire County Council's managers at Kingsbury Water Park, the Club now has a permanent information centre at the site, where visitors to the Park can come and hear all about the advantages of being a WMBC member, as well as learning what birds are currently in the park, and the wider Tame Valley. The centre is located in the Broomey Croft part of the Water Park, a few yards from the car park, near the Children's Farm cafeteria and overlooking Broomey Croft Pool. It's a good meeting point, too.

It is intended that the centre will be staffed at weekends from approximately 10am–5pm, depending on the availability of volunteers, and the weather. If you haven't been yet, why not visit us? We should be pleased to see you, whether you are a member, or not.

Club members are welcome to volunteer to assist at the centre, initially in the company of a more experienced volunteer. The centre has a small library of reference books, plus supplies of Annual Reports, Bulletins and the appropriate leaflets. There are drink-making facilities plus heating and lighting. Any member who feels that they have the skills to deal with an enquiring public, promoting membership of the Club as well as answering questions about birds is invited to contact the Chair of the MPFR committee.

SITA Bird Hide

The new SITA bird hide at Kingsbury Water Park was officially opened on Monday, 9 September 2002, by the Chairman of the SITA Environmental Trust, John Leaver.

New information panels have also been placed in the hides and alongside the canal overlooking the tern island. The ceremony marked the completion of the make-over for the Cliff Pool Nature Reserve, with which the Club has been closely involved.

Access

The Water Park is open to the public; admission is free (car park fees apply) .
