Our Kidderminster Branch has been involved in conservation work at Bodenham Arboretum 
since 2001.
The project started following an invitation by the Binnian Family to run an all the year round feeding program. There are now 4 large feeders strategically placed within the Arboretum. These are replenished throughout the year with the mixture of ingredients changing with the seasons.
The following year we started to introduce various types of nestboxes, as the Arboretum has very few natural holes suitable for nesting birds. Over the last three years we have increased the number of boxes to 50. These are monitored throughout the breeding season to provide breeding data for the British Trust for Ornithology and the Worcestershire County Recorder. In addition to the 50 constantly monitored boxes we experiment with new types of box to encourage other birds to breed. In 2005, we successfully persuaded Marsh Tits and Grey Wagtails to use our a nesting box for the first time. In 2006, they were used for the first time by Spotted Flycatchers and Wrens.

Bird watching at Bodenham is well worth the effort throughout the year. Within the 156 acres there are many different habitats. Over the last five years over 100 species of birds have been recorded. Whether visiting Bodenham to see the flowers, trees, shrubs or for the peace and quiet bring your “Bins” with you.
