West Midland Bird Club

Birding Events, in the West Midland Region, in May 2010

Anyone is welcome at the Club's indoor meetings. There is small charge for admission, with a discount for members of the Club. Members are also welcome to participate in the field trip activities of any branch.

This page also lists events not organised by the Club. Many links are to other organisations' websites (e.g. local RSPB groups) and the Club accepts no responsibility for their content. This prime attractive reserve in mid-Wales should yield Wood Warbler, Pied Flycatcher, Redstart and possibly Tree Pipit and Red Kite as well as other summer migrant warblers. Coastal birds add to the interest.

Meet at the Cisterns Clough layby on the Buxton Road below Axe Edge for a walk to view some of the moorland specialities. This "Knotbury March" does involve some strenuous walking of a few miles and stout footwear is essential. Bring packed lunch to eat en route.

The spectacular cliffs at Bempton offer close views of nesting seabirds — Gannet, Guillemot, Puffin and Razorbill! Blacktoft offers estuary reserve good for waders, rarities, raptors, Bearded Tit and maybe Grasshopper Warbler.
