We produce five issues of our Bulletin each year, with a print run of 1500 copies, distributed to all our 1300 members (all active birdwatchers) within the English counties of Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands. The remaining copies are distributed to local libraries, as example copies free of charge to the general public, and to some other organisations (e.g. Wildlife Trusts) on a reciprocal basis. The Bulletin is produced in black and white only but we can carry separate colour adverts within the mail-shot.
The page size is A5 (210×148mm).
We offer advertising opportunities in each edition, subject to availability.
Your advert might be bird-related, for events, products, accommodation or services; or you may simply wish to show your support of the West Midland Bird Club, by advertising your local business.
We can either distribute flyers provided by you (and folded by you, if A4 size), carry on-page advertising from your camera-ready artwork (which you can provide as hard copy or a digital file) or prepare artwork, for an additional fee. We also carry text-only small ads.
If you do wish to proceed with placing an advert then please let the Editor know prior to the copy date for the issues required. These are:
Please note that the mailing is usually received by members in mid-month for the issue concerned, but since all officers of the Club operate on an unpaid basis exact dates cannot be guaranteed.
| Advert type | Cost per issue (£) |
|---|---|
| A5 Inserts (supplied by advertiser) | 70 |
| A4 Inserts (supplied & folded by advertiser) | 100 |
| Full page (A5) | 50 |
| Half page. | 40 |
| Commercial two-line small ad. | 10 |
| Member's personal two-line small ad. | Free! |
Repeat advertisements attract a small discount up to 10% for five issues — contact the Editor for details.
Please forward a cheque for the full amount — we cannot proceed with the placement of an advert until payment has been received in full by the Editor. We regret that we are unable to process credit or debit card transactions.
The back cover and inner back cover are produced on coated light card which can reproduce toned artwork well. The inner pages are uncoated bond paper which reproduces linework well but does not "hold" toned artwork very well. We will try to position your advert to best effect, but cannot guarantee its position within the Bulletin.
Adverts can either be printed within the Bulletin or carried on a separate sheet within the entire mail-shot…
The Bulletin is produced in black and white only. The artwork for the advert should be provided on a CD directly to the Editor, ideally as an "EPS" or "PDF" file, and accompanied by a paper copy.
If you do need any help with preparation of the advert we can perform this, but please do note that this would need to be commissioned using your own text and illustrations and would attract a further fee. This would then provide you with a layout which would be your property and could be used widely within any publications or adverts you run elsewhere.
You will need to forward 1,500 (one thousand and five hundred) copies of the advert to our printers: Ardonprint, (contact details will be provided on request), with a covering letter explaining their purpose. Alternatively, Ardonprint can arrange for printing of your leaflets. In either case, we require to approve a copy of the artwork, prior to distribution.
Please contact the editor for further details.
