Our club has five local branches:
Each is relatively autonomous, managed by a committee elected by its members, and each has its own style and atmosphere.
There is no joining fee for any branch, and Club members may attend the meetings of any, or indeed all, branches.
Each branch organises indoor meetings, at which a guest speaker talks about some aspects of birds and their behaviour, usually with a slide show. These are also social occasions, with the chance to chat to fellow birders, meet new friends and renew old acquaintances. Non-members are welcome to attend branch meetings, though we do hope they will join the Club if they attend regularly. We make a small admission charge, discounted for members, to go towards the cost for room hire and speakers' fees.
Each branch also organises field trips, either by coach, or with members using their own cars (car sharing is encouraged). Some trips are relatively local, others involve travel to far-flung birding hotspots such as Spurn, Martin Mere or Titchwell. Weekend trips with hotel accommodation are also organised.
Indoor meetings and field trips are listed in our diary.
Some branches also carry out other activities, including nest-box projects, surveying and monitoring bird populations, and assisting in the management of our reserves.
If you haven't already done so, do please contact your local branch!
