We will search for interesting local resident species, and lingering wintering species, as well as the first summer migrants and rarities that may be present.

In search of rare British breeding birds we start at Weeting Heath hoping for Stone Curlew and possibly Woodlark. In the afternoon we search Lakenheath RSPB for Golden Oriole in the poplar plantations and possibly Common Crane and Bittern in the extended reedbeds.

A return to North Cave wetlands where an easy walk offers potential for wildfowl and waders and possible Corn Bunting and Partridges in nearby fields. At Blacktoft, an estuary reserve, we expect more waders as well as harriers, and Bittern and Bearded Tit are present. There is always a possibility of a rarity.

Mix of fresh and saltwater marshes, sand dunes and shore on the edge of the Wash and North Sea attracts waders, wildfowl, seabirds as well as passage migrants and vagrants!

Travel by own transport (car sharing on Saturday may be more practical to minimise convoy size).
We will travel to visit Hickling Broad and Stubb Mill; Salthouse (Cley), Holkham and Titchwell — weather, tides and birds (of course) may decide detail.
Waders, wildfowl and sea birds are certain, winter migrants — Snow Bunting, Shore Lark etc. perhaps… Cranes, Harriers, Owls, who knows — tremendous potential.
Cost: Around £56.50 per person per night. A deposit of £30 per person required with cheques made payable to The Cliftonville Hotel.

Another new venue. Traditional sedge fen, reedbeds, carr, marsh and grazed flooded meadows offer winter wildfowl and waders, passerines including Bearded Tit, Marsh Harrier and Hen Harrier and possible Bittern and Barn Owl and Short-eared Owl.
Cost £19.00 including reserve fee (National Trust members showing membership cards enter reserve free).
