Birmingham Branch — Field Trips

Field Trips depart from Cambridge Street (at the rear of Baskerville House), Birmingham (map here *) prompt at the times stated.

Food and drink should be brought and waterproofs. Appropriate clothing and footwear, to guard against the elements, is recommended.

Please note that the 48-seat coach can become fully booked, but non-arrivals on the day can deny those on the waiting list the chance to enjoy the trip. Please contact us — however late — if you cannot honour a booking. On Sunday morning ring mobile: 07762 061603 with any late cancellations. Thank you.

The Lakes in the Dearne Valley offer birding in parkland, woodland and around lakes with a range of winter visitors and woodland birds. Old Moor RSPB, situated also in the Dearne Valley, has potential for winter swans, wildfowl, and waders. Entrance fee for non members so bring your RSPB membership card!

Travel by own transport (car sharing on Saturday may be more practical to minimise convoy size).
We will travel to visit Hickling Broad and Stubb Mill; Salthouse (Cley), Holkham and Titchwell — weather, tides and birds (of course) may decide detail.
Waders, wildfowl and sea birds are certain, winter migrants — Snow Bunting, Shore Lark etc. perhaps… Cranes, Harriers, Owls, who knows — tremendous potential.
Cost: Around £50 per person per night. A deposit of £20 per person required with cheques made payable to The Beaumaris Hotel.
