Belvide Reserve News from 2008

December 2008
- 30: 177 Greylag Geese were at the west end. 2 Mealy Redpoll were feeding along the path. The gull roost included 5 Yellow-legged Gulls and 23 Great Black-backed Gulls. 16 Waxwings were just east of the reserve.
- 29: A Woodcock alighted briefly near the Scott Hide in the afternoon. 8 Waxwing were noted east of the reserve. 2 Shelduck were present.
- 28: 2 Mealy Redpoll, 9 Lesser Redpoll and 7 Bullfinch were seen. 10 Waxwings were in the orchard along the Shutt Green Lane approach to Belvide.
- 27: 1 Peregrine flew around. 2 Woodcock were located and 900 Wood Pigeon flew south. 250 Teal were counted and the male Stonechat was on the north shore. 11 Lesser Redpoll were seen.
- 26: A Ring-necked Parakeet flew low over the Scott hide late afternoon, this being only the 4th record of this species at the reserve. 3 Mealy Redpoll were with 11 Lesser Redpoll in the alders. A Raven flew over, as did a Peregrine. Wildfowl included 85 Wigeon, 35 Pochard and 149 Greylag Geese. 3 Brambling, 10 Siskin were observed and there were 16 Long-tailed Tit at once on the woodland nut feeder.
- 25: 24 Waxwings were still 750m east of the reserve. 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were drumming in the plantation. The Redpoll flock was seen, including 2 Mealy Redpoll & 10 Lesser Redpoll.
- 23: 26 Waxwings were found late afternoon, feeding on apples 750m east of the reserve. They also spent a short amount of time 250m from the reserve, enabling them to be counted within the recording area for Belvide. Also seen were 2 Brambling, 2 Goosander and 2 Yellow-legged Gulls.
- 21: 40 Tree Sparrow were on & around the Gazebo feeders, 7 Bullfinch were noted. 251 Mallard and 214 Teal were counted.
- 20: A Woodcock was in Gazebo bay and a Stonechat on the north shore. 2 Brambling flew over, 67 Gadwall were counted and 5 Yellow-legged Gulls were in the roost.
- 18: Wildfowl included58 Gadwall, 60 Wigeon, 72 Goldeneye and 260 Teal. 10 Lesser Redpoll were along the south east bay.
- 17: 3 Kingfisher and 15 Snipe were seen.
- 15: 1 Green Woodpecker and 2 separate Little Owl were observed. Teal increased to 364 and Wigeon to 79. 1 Stonechat.
- 14: Wading birds were represented by 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Golden Plover, 325 Lapwing and 29 Snipe. 4 Water Rail and 3 Kingfisher were seen, Wildfowl included 1 white-morph Snow Goose, 109 Canada Geese, 50 Greylag Geese, 226 Mallard, 241 Teal, 66 Wigeon, 38 Gadwall, 15 Shoveler, 7 Pochard, 67 Tufted Duck, 56 Goldeneye and 8 Great Crested Grebe.
- 13: A Snow Goose flew in with 50 Greylag Geese. 33 Snipe were counted and a female Goosander was seen. 1 Yellow-legged Gull was present.
- 12: A dark-bellied Brent Goose was present early morning before flying off east. Gulls included 3 Yellow-legged Gulls and 6 Great Black-backed Gulls. 12 Siskin were counted.
- 11: 1 female Common Scoter. 40 Siskin were in Gazebo bay. An impressive gull roost held 3500 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 5 Great Black-backed Gulls, 7 Yellow-legged Gulls and 75 Herring Gull. The male Stonechat was on the north shore.
- 10: 1 female Common Scoter was a new arrival.
- 9: 11 Great Crested Grebe were noted and a single Dunlin was on the north shore. 1 Redpoll was noted.
- 8: 4 Goosander were at the west end and 6 Golden Plover flew over. 1 Stonechat on the south shore.
- 7: A Great Black-backed Gull was seen to catch and eat a Tufted Duck on the ice. 16 Siskin and a single Brambling were seen. An immature Peregrine was present in the morning. 2 flocks of Goosander flew over, totalling 22 birds.
- 4: 1 Scandinavian Chiffchaff was in the west marsh. A male Sparrowhawk was seen with its Fieldfare prey. 2 Brambling were seen and 514 Starling went to the reedbed roost.
- 3: Wildfowl included 60 Shoveler, 24 Pochard and 1 Goosander. 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Kingfisher and 29 Snipe were seen. 1 Scandinavian Chiffchaff was in the west marsh. 2 Yellow Legged Gulls roosted.
- 2: 200 Redwing & Fieldfare were in the southeast bay scrub & hedge. 40 Tree Sparrow were at the gazebo feeding station. 1 Caspian Gull and 2 Yellow-legged Gulls roosted.
- 1: 49 Shoveler, 150 Teal, 41 Wigeon, 76 Gadwall, 211 Coot were counted. 1 Stonechat on the north shore and there was a noticeable influx of a couple of hundred Redwing and Fieldfare.
November 2008
- 30: a single Pink-footed Goose was with 178 Greylag Geese. Both Willow Tit and Marsh Tit were seen at the woodland feeding station. Large numbers of Redwing and Fieldfare were present.
- 28: 5 Goosander were on the reserve. A single Yellow-legged Gull roosted and a male Stonechat was on the north shore.
- 27: a good count of 50 Snipe were on the north shore along with 7 Golden Plover. 1 Yellow-legged Gull was present.
- 26: 75 Goldeneye along with 4 Goosander were present. A Peregrine was seen, as were 2 Yellow-legged Gulls.
- 25: 65 Snipe were on the north shore. The gull roost consisted of 2000 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 2 Great Black-backed Gulls, 70 Herring Gulls, 7 Common Gulls, 2 Yellow-legged Gulls and 2000 Black-headed Gulls.
- 24: 336 Lapwing, 4 Dunlin were present. Wildfowl included 51 Pochard, 9 Goosander, 15 Shoveler and 1 Shelduck. A possible Cetti's Warbler was seen briefly in the south-east bay.
- 22: 2 Green Sandpiper flew through. Flocks of 15 and 6 Brambling were on different parts of the reserve. 2 Lesser Redpoll and 1 male Stonechat were observed. 82 Gadwall, 27 Shoveler and 4 Shelduck were counted.
- 21: an immature Peregrine bathed in the north shore shallows. 33 Snipe and 80 Golden Plover were counted. 80 Wigeon and 182 Teal were on the water.
- 19: 4 Yellow-legged Gulls were in the roost. 40 Tree Sparrow were at the Gazebo feeders. Pochard have increased to 41 and a single Goosander flew in.
- 18: a female Scaup was newly arrived and joined 2 Shelduck, 66 Wigeon, 34 Pochard and 2 Goosander. 3 Dunlin and 12 Golden Plover were on the north shore.
- 17: 10 Dunlin and a single Bar-tailed Godwit flew through. A pair of Goosander and 2 Shelduck was present. The male Stonechat fed on the north shore.
- 16: a single Brambling was at the Gazebo feeders. A Green Sandpiper was on the north shore, along with 170 Golden Plover and 838 Lapwing. 2 Water Rail were seen. A Wildfowl count produced 100 Teal, 10 Shoveler, 80 Tufted Duck, 26 Pochard, 20 Great Crested Grebe, 64 Gadwall, 60 Wigeon, 56 Goldeneye, 263 Mallard, 2 Shelduck and 1 Goosander.
- 15: 2 immature Peregrines were seen to tussle over the reserve today.
- 14: an immature female Scaup was new in and a Peregrine was seen. The drake Pintail was noted and a Water Rail showed well at dusk.
- 12: 2 Tundra Bean Geese were present on the north shore again. 117 Golden Plover, 1 Pintail, 2 Shelduck and 51 Goldeneye were observed. 1 Water Rail, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Redwing and 1 Fieldfare were caught by the ringing group/seen in the hand.
- 11: the 2 Tundra Bean Geese were present for most of the day. A 3rd winter Caspian Gull was in the roost and a Chiffchaff was seen in the southeast bay.
- 10: 6 Yellow-legged Gulls were in the roost. 100s of Fieldfare and Redwing fed on the reserve. 3 Male Stonechat were present. 2 Water Rail were in front of the Scott Hide.
- 9: 4 Brambling was with a flock of 40 Greenfinch at the west end. 350 Golden Plover were on the north shore and 45 Goldeneye were counted. 100's of Wood Pigeon flew northeast.
- 8: 2 Tundra Bean Geese arrived mid morning and joined 221 Greylag Geese, 1 Barnacle and 1 Pink-footed Goose. 420 Golden Plover were present and 3 Raven flew over. 4 Ruddy Duck, 78 Wigeon, 14 Shoveler, 2 Shelduck and 6 Yellow-legged Gulls were counted. A single Dunlin flew in.
- 7: 30 Siskin fed in Gazebo Bay, and 1 male Stonechat was observed. An impressive 300 Teal were counted, also 300 Golden Plover and 4 Dunlin. The 2 Tundra Bean Geese stayed most of the day.
- 6: 2 Tundra Bean Geese emerged on the north shore, from a flock of 50 Greylag Geese, this afternoon. This is only the second record for Belvide of the species, the first being on 18 December 1987! 4 Dunlin were present and 1 Jack Snipe was flushed in the southeast bay.
- 5: 1 Peregrine and 2 Raven were over the reserve. 4 Dunlin and 67 Golden Plover. Singles of feral Pink-footed Goose and Barnacle Goose were in the 218-strong Greylag Goose flock.
- 4: a first record of the year in the form of a drake Common Scoter today. 2 Male Stonechat were on the north shore. 70 Wigeon, 178 Teal, 23 Great Crested Grebe and 2 Shelduck were counted.
- 3: a 4th winter Yellow-legged Gull roosted. 5 Dunlin and 150 Golden Plover were counted.
- 2: a single Purple Sandpiper spent the day on the dam, and was seen by many! This constitutes only the fifth record for the reserve. Also 2, 1st winter Kittiwake, 3 Yellow-legged Gulls and 19 Common Gull were in the gull roost. 2 Goosander dropped in at dusk.
- 1: 3 Brambling were seen with 1 being in the car park. 200 Redwing and 75 Fieldfare were noted. Wildfowl included 133 Mallard, 48 Wigeon, 102 Teal, 40 Gadwall, 7 Pochard, 96 Tufted Duck, 39 Goldeneye, 295 Coot, 14 Great Crested Grebe and 1 Little Grebe.
October 2008
- 31: 400 Fieldfare, 1 Stonechat, 2 Curlew, 1 Dunlin, and 2 Shelduck.
- 30: A flock of 40 Siskin were present. 46 Golden Plover, 2 Dunlin, 66 Wigeon, 38 Pochard and 2 Yellow-legged Gulls roosted.
- 28: 3 Whooper Swan, with weather atrocious!
- 27: 4 Whooper Swan. 1 Jack Snipe was at the west end, other waders consisted of 47 Snipe, 217 Golden Plover and 1 Dunlin. 265 Siskin and 3 Stonechat were seen.
- 26: A large gull roost held, 1 Mediterranean Gull, 2500 Black-headed Gull, 800 Lesser Black-backed Gull and 4 Yellow-legged Gulls respectively. 1150 Lapwing and 417 Golden Plover were on the north shore. 2 Water Rail were in front of the scott hide. 47 Wigeon, 5 Pintail, 2 Shelduck and 286 Teal were counted.
- 25: A Peregrine took a Lapwing and 100 Golden Plover were on the north shore. 4 Pintail and the Blue Winged Teal/Shoveler hybrid were on the reserve. 20 Siskin showed in the afternoon.
- 22: 350 Golden Plover and 1 immature Peregrine for company! 4 Pintail, 13 Goldeneye and the Blue Winged Teal/Shoveler hybrid were present. 1 Stonechat on the north shore.
- 21: A first ever record for Belvide today, in the form of a Glossy Ibis which was seen and photographed by one fortunate birder. The bird was present for a short period in the early morning.
- 19: 795 Lapwing, 432 Golden Plover, 4 Pintail, 13 Goldeneye, 239 Mallard, 2 Shelduck, 222 Teal, 193 Tufted Duck, 8 Pochard and 28 Great Crested Grebe were counted. 494 Redwing, 97 Fieldfare, 4 Lesser Redpoll and 15 Skylark flew over.
- 18: A Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was in the woodland, early morning. 1 Jack Snipe and 64 Snipe were counted. An early morning sky watch yielded 1319 Redwing, 162 Fieldfare, 3 Yellowhammer, 4 Lesser Redpoll, 36 Linnet, 8 Siskin and 7 Skylark.
- 17: Waders included 2 Redshank, 1 Dunlin, 25 Snipe, 1 Green Sandpiper and 163 Golden Plover. The 1st winter drake Scaup was still on the reserve and a Great Black-backed Gull was seen to take a Tufted Duck.
- 16: A Chiffchaff was in the plantation, and an immature Peregrine was seen. The Blue Winged Teal/Shoveler Hydrid was joined by 1 Pintail,53 Shoveler, 2 Shelduck, and 5 Goldeneye.
- 15: 3 Rock Pipit moved through and 3 Chiffchaff were in the hedgerows. A female Merlin was a new bird for the year. A single 1st winter drake Scaup.
- 13: a juvenile Little Stint was on the north shore, along with 2 Ruff, 11 Snipe, 870 Lapwing and 27 Golden Plover. 160 Tufted Duck counted.
- 12: 3 Chiffchaff were still present and also a male Blackcap. 6 Swallow flew south early morning.228 Greylag Geese were joined by a single Pink-footed Goose. 3 Grey Wagtail, 6 Yellowhammer, 19 Linnet, 5 Siskin, 30 Meadow Pipit, 22 Skylark and 10 Lesser Redpoll flew over.
- 11: 1 Goosander, 1 Pintail, 300 Teal, 58 Gadwall, 40 Shoveler, 6 Wigeon, 2 Goldeneye, 2 Shelduck and 1 Blue Winged Teal/Shoveler hybrid were counted. 2 Swallow flew south and 1 Ruff was on the north shore.
- 8: 4 Ruff, 915 Lapwing,1 Redshank and 1 Golden Plover were on the north shore. A single Swallow flew through and 4 Chiffchaff were in the boundary hedgerow. 60 Great Crested Grebe were on the reserve.
- 7: 1 Peregrine, 4 Mistle Thrush, 2 Swallow, 4 Chiffchaff were all noted. Wildfowl included 46 Gadwall, 204 Teal, 2 Little Grebe, 7 Pochard, 58 Shoveler, 43 Wigeon and 3 Goldeneye.
- 5: 400 Lapwing and 6 Snipe were on the north shore. A Water Pipit showed well for 15 minutes in front of the West End Hide. 10 Skylark and 1 Swallow flew south. 1 Treecreeper, 2 Goldcrest and 2 Chiffchaff were in the car park hedge.
- 4: 40 Pied Wagtail, 2 Grey Wagtails, 8 Swallow,15 Siskin and 150 Meadow Pipit flew over. Birds of prey seen were 3 Buzzard, 2 Peregrine and 1 Sparrowhawk.
- 2: The west end held 1 Ruff, 2 Dunlin,1 Golden Plover and 2 Shelduck. A Yellow-legged Gull called in. 8 Jay, 6 Chiffchaff and 1 Raven were noted.
September 2008
- 29: 8 Chiffchaff, 1 Ringed Plover, 2 Dunlin, and a Water Rail in front of the Scott Hide.
- 28: Highlight of the day was a juvenile Red Kite that flew through in the late afternoon. Other birds noted were 500 Lapwing, 16 Golden Plover, 3 Snipe and 1 Dunlin. A Grey Wagtail was on the dam and a Lesser Redpoll at the west end. Over 20 Goldcrest and 4 Chiffchaff were present.
- 24: a single Wheatear was new in. 2 Barnacle Geese and 2 Shelduck were recorded.
- 23: 2 Spotted Flycatcher were near the Gazebo hide, and 8 Chiffchaff were still present. 2 Shelduck and 1 Pintail were seen.
- 22: 7 Snipe and a single Ringed Plover were at the west end. A flock of 60 Swallow lingered briefly, early evening, and 500 Lesser Black-backed Gull made up the roost.
- 21: 2 Barnacle Geese arrived with the Canada Geese. 2 Spotted Flycatchers, 6 Chiffchaff and 1 Reed Warbler were still on the reserve. 124 Meadow Pipit, 18 Siskin and 22 Lesser Redpoll flew through, early morning. 225 Tufted Duck were noted.
- 20: a Hobby was hunting in front of the Scott Hide and a Peregrine, 2 Tawny Owls and 1 Little Owl were also observed. Singles of Dunlin, Redshank, Common Sandpiper and Ringed Plover were noted. 2 Common Tern called in.
- 19: the Temminck's Stint remains. Other waders seen were 1 Greenshank, 1 Common Sandpiper and 1 Little Ringed Plover. 2 Little Egrets roosted in the Willows and 1 Black-necked Grebe and 1 Mediterranean Gull were noted.
- 18: 2 juvenile Shelduck were in, and a Lesser Whitethroat was along the west lane. A Hobby was hawking insects also. The Temminck's Stint was still present. 2 Tawny Owls were calling at dusk, by the car park.
- 17: 1 Temminck's Stint, 1 Greenshank, 3 Common Sandpiper and 1 Little Ringed Plover were present. A juvenile Whinchat was at the west end.
- 16: a Peregrine harassed the waders present including the Temminck's Stint. The Black-necked Grebe was in front of the Scott hide and a single Pintail was in.
- 15: highlight of the day was a Juvenile Temminck's Stint that appeared on the north shore in the afternoon. Other waders seen were 2 Golden Plover, 2 Greenshank, 3 Common Sandpiper, 1 Ringed Plover and 1 Little Ringed Plover. 60 Meadow Pipit, 7 Grey Wagtail and 2 Siskin flew over.
- 14: a wildfowl count produced 1 Black-necked Grebe, 1 Little Grebe, 30 Great Crested Grebe, 15 Wigeon, 16 Shoveler, 49 Gadwall, 171 Mallard, 30 Pochard, 199 Tufted Duck, 571 Coot, 12 Mute Swan. 7 Grey Heron, 810 Lapwing and 7 Snipe were seen. 102 Meadow Pipit flew south and a Spotted Flycatcher was along the west lane.
- 13: at mid morning, a juvenile Spoonbill flew in and settled on the north shore, and was present until early evening. Birds of prey included an Osprey which circled for ten minutes, before continuing south, 2 Hobby, 1 Peregrine and a movement of over 30 Common Buzzard. A Black Tern was present and so too, an Arctic Tern briefly. 8 Pintail were new in and 4 Curlew flew through early evening.
- 12: 8 Little Gull through. The Greylag Goose flock stood at 234. with an accompanying single Pink-footed Goose. Single Hobby and Tawny Owl were seen. 10 Chiffchaff, 1 Willow Warbler and 1 Lesser Whitethroat were in the hedgerows. 6 Common Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank, 1 Black Tern, 1 Black-necked Grebe were noted and a Whinchat was at the west end.
- 11: a juvenile Ruff joined 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Snipe, 7 Common Sandpiper, and 2 Greenshank. 2 Hobby were catching Dragonflies in front of the Scott Hide. 5 Wigeon were seen.
- 9: 5 Common Tern and 1 Black Tern were still present. 1 Black-necked Grebe. A Hobby was seen.
- 8: 3 juvenile Black-necked Grebe, 1 juvenile Black Tern were on the reserve. A Whinchat was at the west end and a Spotted Flycatcher in the car park.
- 7: 10 Little Gull flew through, as did 9 Pintail. Waders consisted of 3 Little Ringed Plover, 6 Common Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper, 2 Golden Plover and 8 Snipe. A female Peregrine and 2 Hobby were present in the morning.
- 6: 18 Turnstone flew through, early in the afternoon, as did 3 Swift. Single Willow Warbler and Whitethroat were noted. An adult and juvenile Arctic Tern arrived, as did a juvenile Black Tern. 1 Knot. 5 Ringed Plover, 3 Little Ringed Plover, 7 Common Sandpipers and 1 Green Sandpiper. 45 Common Tern called in for 35 minutes.
- 5: 2 Sandwich Tern called in for 10 minutes and a single Knot was newly arrived. A Pair of Hobby were seen to catch a Sand Martin & House Martin. 148 Teal were counted.
- 4: The 3 Black-necked Grebe were still present and a Wheatear was on the north shore. 2 Greenshank, 2 Green Sandpiper, 6 Common Sandpiper, 10 Ringed Plover, 3 Little Ringed Plover were all at the west end.
- 3: 225 Greylag, 61 Gadwall, 22 Pochard, 9 Little Grebe and 3 Black-necked Grebe were counted. A Fulmar flew through mid afternoon and a Spotted Redshank was present for over an hour.
- 2: A single Black Tern and 6 Redshank were new arrivals. Other waders included 2 Greenshank and 7 Ringed Plover. Pair of Hobby were seen to catch a House Martin.
- 1: a single Swift was in the 500+ Swallow and Martin flock over the reserve. There was a noticeable movement of Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler through. A Green Woodpecker was near the car park. Wildfowl included 8 Wigeon, 104 Teal, 41 Shoveler and 10 Pochard.
August 2008
- 31: 2 Juvenile Black-necked Grebe, 3 Greenshank, 1 Ruff, 6 Ringed Plover, 2 Common Sandpiper. A Tree Pipit flew east and 2 Common Tern were present, and Wigeon increased to 5.
- 30: 11 Black Tern, 2 Sandwich Tern, 26 Common Tern were sighted on the reserve today. 1 Yellow Wagtail, 6 Crossbill, 4 Grey Wagtail were seen. The Coot flock stood at 1184 and 2 Black-necked Grebe were present.
- 29: 5 juvenile Black-tailed Godwit, 6 Ringed Plover, and 1 Redshank were present. 3 Spotted Flycatcher were seen, and a Peregrine was noted.
- 28: 2 Sandwich Tern rested mid afternoon, as did a Little Egret. Waders included 2 Green Sandpiper, 7 Common Sandpiper, 7 Ringed Plover and 1 Dunlin. A Peregrine was over the reserve in the afternoon.
- 27: The 2 Black-necked Grebe showed well. 3 Wheatear, 1 Yellow Wagtail, were on the north shore and a single Swift moved through. Other passerines included 5 Garden Warbler and a Whitethroat.
- 25: Wildfowl included 56 Gadwall, 111 Teal, 70 Teal, and 1076 Coot. 2 Wheatear were on the north shore. 100 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 5 Herring Gull and 800 Black Headed Gull were counted. 5 Common Tern were present early on.
- 24: 4 Swift flew through. A Juvenile Black-necked Grebe was new in. Waders included 2 Green Sandpiper and 5 Common Sandpiper, 4 Ringed Plover and single Dunlin. 3 Wheatear were on the north shore.
- 22: A Peregrine was in attendance. 3 Wheatear on the north shore and 9 Pochard on the water.
- 21: 1 Greenshank,1 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Dunlin, 3 Little Ringed Plover and 3 Common Sandpiper. A juvenile Arctic Tern was over the water.
- 20: 100 Swift flew south and a Pink-footed Goose was in the Greylag Goose flock. 1 Arctic Tern joined 2 Black Tern and 15 Common Tern.
- 19: A colour ringed Sanderling was new in, other wader included 9 Ringed Plover, 1 Greenshank and 3 Dunlin. A Peregrine was seen and 3 Shelduck were present.
- 18: 34 Black Tern, 13 Common Tern, 1 Hobby, 1 Greenshank, and 3 juvenile Shelduck were noted. A Spotted Flycatcher was in the south east bay.
- 17: 125 Common Terns in two separate flocks moved through and 34 Black Tern and 1 Arctic Tern were present. Other fly-overs included 3 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Whimbrel, and 100 Swift. New in were 4 Snipe 1 Golden Plover and 87 Teal.
- 16: A juvenile Marsh Harrier was present for 20 minutes mid day. A single Crossbill passed over, as did 55 Swift. Wildfowl included 2 Shelduck, 20 Shoveler and 41 Gadwall.
- 15: A juvenile Ruff was a first for the year, joining 2 Dunlin, 2 Ringed Plover and 1 Little Ringed Plover. 949 Coot were counted and a Peregrine was present in the afternoon.
- 14: A Yellow-legged Gull was present on the north shore. The Pink-footed Goose remained in the Greylag Goose flock.
- 13: 1 Redstart, 3 Garden Warbler, 30 Tree Sparrow and a family of Spotted Flycatcher were in the south east bay. 7 Ringed Plover, 3 Dunlin and 1 Common Sandpiper were on the north shore. A Peregrine appeared in the afternoon.
- 12: 11 Black-tailed Godwit were present for 30 minutes.
- 9: 181 Greylag Geese, 1 Pink-footed Goose were present. 410 Jackdaw and 120 Rook roosted. A Green Woodpecker was in the plantation.
- 8: 5 Dunlin, 8 Ringed Plover, 1 Green Sandpiper, 5 Common Sandpiper were joined by a juvenile Turnstone which was a new bird for the year. A Hobby flew through.
- 7: 19 Black-tailed Godwits dropped in at mid-day. 848 Lapwing and 24 Common Terns were counted.
- 4: A Mediterranean Gull was on the north shore, as was a single Wheatear. 2 Arctic Terns were new in.
- 3: 2 Whimbrel flew through late afternoon and 3 Black-tailed Godwit did likewise early morning. A Redstart was present on the shoreline, as was a Mediterranean Gull. Waders included single Redshank and Snipe. 15 Teal and 1 Shelduck were counted.
- 2: A Red Kite (4th record of the year) flew slowly south and 6 Raven were also over the reserve. 4 Redshank called in to join 1 Ringed Plover, 10 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin, and 9 Common Sandpiper. A Spotted Flycatcher was in the plantation.
- 1: An adult Mediterranean Gull was present on the north shore and 2 Redstart were in the south shoreline willows. 140 Mute Swan were counted and the Pink-footed Goose remained with the Greylag Goose flock.
July 2008
- 31: 18 Black Tern, 1 Little Gull, 2 Green Sandpiper, 7 Common Sandpiper, 1 Ringed Plover, 2 Juvenile Yellow Wagtail. Single Whimbrel and Crossbill flew through. 2 Hobby, 2 Little Egret and a Redstart were present.
- 30: 2 Little Egrets were at the west end. 1 juvenile Shelduck, 3 Black Tern and 2 Mediterranean Gulls were seen. 9 Little Ringed Plover,1 Dunlin, 5 Common Sandpiper and 1 Green Sandpiper were noted.
- 29: 21 Common Tern, were joined by 4 Black Tern. 2 Dunlin and a single Snipe were present. Greylag Geese stand at 161.
- 26: 2 Spotted Flycatcher were in the car park. 2 Oystercatcher, 7 Little Ringed Plover, 14 Common Tern, 9 Teal and 1 Shelduck.
- 25: A Redstart was near the new hide. 6 Grey Wagtail, 139 Mute Swan and 9 Pochard, 6 Common Sandpiper and 6 Little Ringed Plover.
- 24: A Black-tailed Godwit was new in. 9 Shoveler,28 Gadwall, 3 Oystercatcher were present and a Green Woodpecker was in the plantation.
- 23: 2 Arctic Tern joined 8 Common Tern. 1 Kingfisher was noted.
- 21: The car park held a juvenile Spotted Flycatcher. 2 Dunlin, 6 Common Sandpiper and 1 Little Ringed Plover. A Lesser Whitethroat was seen.
- 20: Wildfowl included 11 Gadwall, 103 Mallard, 4 Shoveler, 47 Tufted Duck, 2 Pochard, 22 Great Crested Grebe, 102 Greylag Goose, 138 Mute Swan & 904 Coot, 2 Raven and 1 Hobby were at the west end.
- 19: 5 Crossbill flew south west mid morning. 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 3 juvenile Redstarts were noted. 2 Yellow Wagtail were on the north shore, 3 Black-tailed Godwit and single Hobby flew through flew through.
- 18: Waders present were 11 Common Sandpiper, 5 Little Ringed Plover and 1 Oystercatcher. Mute Swan stand at 138.
- 17: A Greenshank was new in, also 2 Redshank and 10 Dunlin. A Hobby flew over and a family of Kestrel, including 3 juveniles were at the southern end of the reserve.
- 16: An adult Mediterranean Gull, 5 Black-tailed Godwit, and 15 Dunlin.
- 14: A Little Egret was at the west end early on. 7 Little Ringed Plover, 9 Common Sandpiper and 1 Oystercatcher. A Hobby flew through.
- 13: 5 Raven were over the reserve and 7 Crossbill flew through. 1 Lesser Whitethroat was seen.
- 12: A juvenile Redstart was near the new hide. A Greenshank joined the 7 Oystercatcher.
- 11: 503 Lapwing and 135 Mute Swan were present. 4 Black-tailed Godwit were new in.
- 9: 800 Coot, 382 Lapwing, 7 Pochard and 1 drake Wigeon.
- 8: 1 Greenshank, 1 Redshank, 5 Common Sandpiper, 3 Little Ringed Plover.
- 7: 1 drake Scaup, 2 Dunlin, 5 Redshank and a brood of 7 Gadwall chicks.
- 6: 127 Mute Swan were present: a new Belvide record. 3 Black-tailed Godwit also were seen.
- 4: A Whinchat was present near the west lane this afternoon.
- 3: A Common Gull flew west, single Teal and Wigeon were new in. 10 Little Ringed Plover were on the north shore.
- 2: A Green Sandpiper and Yellow Wagtail were on the south and north shorelines respectively. 7 Common Sandpiper were also noted.
- 1: 31 Gadwall, 5 Pochard, 2 Teal and 1 Wigeon were counted. A Hobby flew through and 5 Oystercatcher, 1 Redshank, 8 Little Ringed Plover and 4 Common Sandpiper were on the north shore.
June 2008
- 30: 2 Curlew, 3 Common Sandpiper, 3 Little Ringed Plover and 1 Black-tailed Godwit. Single Marsh Tit and a Yellow Wagtail was at the west end.
- 29: 115 Mute Swan, 676 Coot and 9 Little Ringed Plover.
- 28: 4 juvenile Shelduck were new arrivals, a single Grey Wagtail and a Ringed Plover joined the Little Ringed Plovers.
- 24: 15 juvenile Tree Sparrow were in a group of 20 at the Gazebo feeding station. 5 Common Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Ringed Plover and 3 Little Ringed Plover made up the waders present.
- 23: 260 Lapwing were present, 6 Oystercatcher and 1 Redshank also. 6 Teal and the single drake Wigeon were noted.
- 22: A wildfowl count produced 68 Mallard, 28 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, 5 Teal, 1 Wigeon, 2 Pochard, 25 Tufted Duck, 505 Coot, 18 Great Crested Grebe, 102 Canada Geese and 6 Greylag Geese.
- 20: 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper, 3 Redshank, 3 Little Ringed and 2 Ringed Plover were all on the north shore.
- 18: The Spotted Redshank remained on the North shore.
- 17: The Spotted Redshank was joined by 2 Little Ringed Plover and 1 Green Sandpiper.
- 16: A summer plumaged Spotted Redshank was new in and constituted the first summer sighting since 2000. A Hobby was seen hawking and 2 Common Tern chicks were seen on one of the rafts.
- 14: A Buzzard was mobbed by a pair of Curlew, at the west end of the reserve. 6 Oystercatcher and 8 Teal were present.
- 13: The Coot flock stands at 500. 25 Canada Goose goslings were noted. Single Green Sandpiper on the north shore. The pair of Common Terns on the new raft, hatched 2 chicks.
- 12: 4 Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Oystercatcher, 1 Redshank,1 Little Ringed Plover were seen. 12 Common Tern were present.
- 11: The north shore held a single Whimbrel, for a period in the afternoon.
- 9: A single Yellow-legged Gull was present for the afternoon.
- 8: The single Pectoral Sandpiper remained on the north shore and a minimum of 15 Reed Warbler were in full song. 2 Little Ringed Plover were displaying.
- 7: A drake Mandarin was new in, joining 8 Pochard and 6 Teal. The Pectoral Sandpiper remained on the north shore.
- 6: The main highlight of the day was a Pectoral Sandpiper, which joined 2 Redshank and 2 Little Ringed Plover on the north shore.
- 4: A Red Kite lingered over the reserve for 20 minutes (the third record of the year). A single Hobby was present in the afternoon and a Lesser Whitethroat was present along the west lane.
- 2: A pair of Willow Tit with 5 young were near the Gazebo hide. 12 Common Tern were present.
- 1: 1 Dunlin, 6 Oystercatcher and 2 Redshank. Wildfowl included 1 Wigeon, 3 Teal, 57 Gadwall, 5 Shoveler, 3 Pochard and 20 Great Crested Grebe. 96 Mute Swan were noted.
May 2008
- 31: 17 Common Tern, 1 Hobby and Little Ringed Plover.
- 30: Drake Garganey, 7 Oystercatcher and 18 Common Tern were noted. Waders included single Ringed Plover and Little Ringed Plover.
- 29: 4 Hobby were over the west end, and Greenshank and Ringed Plover.
- 28: Common Tern numbers increased to 20 and a single Arctic Tern flew through. The drake Gargany and Greenshank were still present. 1,500 House Martin were congregated.
- 25: 2 Common Sandpiper, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 3 Ringed Plover, 1 Greenshank and 1 Dunlin. A Willow Tit family were seen near the Scott hide.
- 24: A Red Kite lingered for 15 minutes before flying south-east. 1 Wigeon, 1 Garganey and 2 Shelduck.
- 23: Single Sanderling and Raven flew through. 1 Arctic Tern was flying around and 6 Pochard were present. Also 3 Mistle Thrush.
- 22: A pair of Spotted Flycatcher showed well, and 6 Oystercatcher were present.
- 21: 1 Goldeneye and 1 Wigeon remained, along with the drake Garganey. A Black Tern was new in. 10 Common Tern and a single Hobby were seen.
- 20: The 2 pairs of Oystercatcher have hatched 2 & 3 pairs of chicks respectively. 2 Common Sandpiper and Little Ringed Plover were present.
- 18: Single Goldeneye, Garganey, Wigeon, were joined by 2 Teal, 3 Pochard, 34 Gadwall, 47 Tufted Duck and 16 Great Crested Grebe.
- 17: A Grey Plover flew through. Other waders noted were 5 Ringed Plover, 1 Curlew, 2 Dunlin and 1 Common Sandpiper. Common Tern had increased to 19 and 3,000 Swift were over the water.
- 15: A drake Garganey was new in. A Hobby was hawking over the water and a Spotted Flycatcher was in the woodland.
- 13: A Black-necked Grebe was present along with dark headed Ruddy Duck.
- 11: A Cuckoo was calling and the first Spotted Flycatcher was seen.
- 10: A Cuckoo showed well and single Dunlin and Little Ringed Plover were on the shingle island. A Black-necked Grebe in summer plumage was a nice new arrival.
- 9: 5 Black Tern, 2 Hobby, and 1 Dunlin were present. Single Goldeneye and Wigeon remained.
- 8: 10 Black Tern were present over the water. Waders included 1 Ringed Plover and 1 Common Sandpiper.
- 7: 1 Cuckoo, 2 Hobby and 2 Lesser Whitethroat were seen. 3 Black Tern flew through.
- 6: 7 Common Tern, 10 Black Tern, 2 Shelduck and 1 Garganey. The first Whinchat of the year was in the west marsh.
- 5: 10 Dunlin and 1 Kittiwake flew through. A Sandwich Tern was present for a few minutes, around mid-day. 3 Arctic Tern were seen, early morning.
- 4: 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Plover, 3 Black Tern, 3 Whimbrel and a Hobby were seen. 15 Sedge Warbler, 5 Reed Warbler, 6 Whitethroat, 2 Lesser Whitethroat and 500 Swift were present.
- 2: 4 Black-tailed Godwit called in, briefly and a Dunlin flew through. A single Hobby was seen in the afternoon.
- 1: A Little Tern was present for 20 minutes and 2 Hobby were seen.
April 2008
- 30: 2 Hobby, 1 Greenshank, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Dunlin. Garden Warbler numbers had increased to 6 and single Yellow Wagtail and 2 Lesser Whitethroat were noted.
- 29: 500 Swift were present over the reserve and a Yellow Wagtail was on the shingle island. 14 Black-tailed Godwit called in and the first Ringed Plover of the year flew through.
- 28: 5 Goldeneye still remained and a Hobby performed well. Common Tern increased to 11 birds. 4 Dunlin and a single Common Sandpiper.
- 27: 8 Common Tern were joined by 2 Black Tern very early morning. A Peregrine flew through and 1 male Wheatear was on the shingle island. Waders seen were 1 Greenshank, 7 Dunlin and 6 Common Sandpiper.
- 26: A Greenshank was new in and was joined by a Whimbrel at the west end. A Little Gull called in for half an hour. Migrant warblers included 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 6 Whitethroat, 11 Sedge Warbler and 4 Reed Warbler.
- 25: 2 Whimbrel were the highlight of the day. Common Tern increased to 6.
- 24: 3 Swift were present. Waders noted were 2 Redshank, 4 Oystercatcher, 1 Dunlin and 1 Common Sandpiper. 4 Raven briefly circled over the north wood.
- 23: The first Swift and Lesser Whitethroat of the year were seen. The Barn Owl again performed well at the west end and a Brambling was near the Gazebo Hide.
- 21: Migrants noted today were a Yellow Wagtail, 1 Sedge Warbler, and 12 Common Tern. A female Redstart was in the Fisherman's car park.
- 20: 2 Arctic Tern called in early morning. 350 Sand Martin, 80 Swallow and 30 House Martin were over the water. 21 Goldeneye, 4 Wigeon and 16 Teal were counted.
- 19: A drake Red-breasted Merganser was present for all of 15 minutes. 3 Yellow Wagtail were on the dam and a female Redstart in the fisherman's car park. Sinlge Little Ringed Plover and Common Sandpiper were on the shingle island.
- 18: The first Reed Warbler returned and 8 male Yellow Wagtail were on the dam wall.
- 17: 3 Redstarts, 9 Yellow Wagtails and the first Common Tern were present.
- 16: 2 Pochard, 2 Shelduck and 5 Wigeon were seen. 150 Sand Martin, 50 Swallow and 15 House Martin were over the water.
- 15: A fine male Redstart showed well in Gazebo Bay and late a Whitethroat near the Bryant Hide.
- 14: In the evening 2 Avocets arrived and were still present at dusk — only the sixth record for the reserve. The first Hobby of the year performed well. A Barn Owl was hunting the west end and a single Little Ringed Plover was a new arrival.
- 13: A male Ring Ouzel flew over, calling, and a single Lesser Redpoll, Green Woodpecker and Redwing were present. The Barn Owl reappeared.
- 12: The year's first Yellow Wagtail called in and a Whimbrel flew through. Willow Warbler numbers increased to 10, 35 Fieldfare flew over, as did 2 Raven.
- 10: An Osprey flew north early morning and Sand Martin have increased to 200. 22 Teal and 38 Goldeneye were noted.
- 9: A Water Rail was near the Bryant Hide and an influx of Sand Martin was witnessed (800), joined by several House Martins and Swallows.
- 8: A summer plumaged Water Pipit was in the west marsh and an Osprey flew high over.
- 7: 2 Little Owl showed well by the nest box. Waders noted were single Curlew, 2 Redshank and 15 Snipe. Summer migrants included 13 Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warbler and 3 Blackcap. 50 Goldeneye were present.
- 6: 300 Sand Martin were flying over the water in the snowy landscape, with 12 Swallow. Wildfowl seen were 8 Wigeon, 6 Teal, 26 Shoveler, 25 Mallard,50 Gadwall, 134 Tufted Duck, 5 Ruddy Duck and 1 Pochard. 100 Meadow Pipit at the west end.
- 4: Late afternoon produced an Osprey flying north-west. 700 Fieldfare were in the farmland around the reserve.
- 3: A fine drake Red-breasted Merganser showed well. A Tawny Owl was see at roost. 2 Brambling were in the plantation.
- 1: The Black-necked Grebe was still on site. A Green Woodpecker flew through and a Blackcap was singing in the plantation.
March 2008
- 31: A pair Of Little Owls showed well at the nest box. The Black-necked Grebe and Scaup were still present. The first Willow Warbler and House Martin were on the reserve.
- 30: A Peregrine flew through in the morning. 6 Shellduck, 6 Oystercatcher and 2 Redshank. 35 Sand Martin.
- 29: A summer-plumaged Black-necked Grebe was new in, along with an Egyptian Goose. 87 Goldeneye at dusk and 2 Swallow flew through.
- 28: A Red Kite flew through mid afternoon and the drake Scaup was still present. 35 Sand Martin were counted.
- 27: 88 Meadow Pipit, 1 Brambling and 50 Sand Martin. A Water Rail showed well in front of the Bryant hide.
- 25: 120 Fieldfare flew north and a Little Grebe was new in.
- 23: 2 Pink-footed Geese flew through late afternoon. 10 Chiffchaff, 4 Brambling and 50 Sand Martin. Waders were represented by 2 Redshank, 2 Curlew and 6 Oystercatcher.
- 22: 9 Whooper Swan spent the afternoon on site, along with 60 Wigeon, 21 Shoveler and the drake Scaup. 12 Brambling were in the plantation, 2 Wheatear in fields to the west, and the Barn Owl hunted the north shore.
- 21: A single Kittiwake flew through early evening, also Peregrine and Raven earlier on. A Yellow-legged Gull and 2 Wheatear were seen.
- 19: Barn Owl hunting late after noon, 4 Redshank and 1 Dunlin were noted. 40 Pied Wagtail, 20 Meadow Pipit, 11 Chiffchaff and 80 Sand Martin.
- 18: Green Sandpiper, 1 Dunlin, 6 Oystercatcher, 2 Redshank. 1 Drake Goosander dropped in and joined the drake Scaup. The first Swallow arrived and a male Wheatear was on the north shore.
- 17: 3 Grey Wagtail on the dam wall, along with single Green Sandpiper. 18 Great Crested Grebe and 1 Barn Owl.
- 16: 107 Goldeneye, and 1 Barn Owl at dusk. 41 Sand Martin and 2 Chiffchaff were present. A pair of Goosander arrived and a Kittiwake was present for 20 minutes.
- 15: 17 Golden Plover flew over, 2 Redshank, 2 Curlew, 14 Snipe and 7 Oystercatcher also. 4 Shelduck, 54 Gadwall and 93 Goldeneye were counted. The Barn Owl was seen and 5 Lesser Redpoll were noted.
- 11: The gull roost held 2 Yellow-legged Gull, 4 Herring Gull, 70 Lesser Black Backed Gull, 1 Great Black-backed Gull and 1000 Black-headed Gulls. Single Sand Martin and Chiffchaff were seen and the Barn Owl was hunting the west end.
- 9: Wildfowl included a Scaup, 72 Tufted Duck, 5 Pochard, 31 Mallard, 24 Wigeon, 11 Teal, 49 Gadwall, 1 Shoveler, 90 Goldeneye, 175 Coot and 10 Great Crested Grebe. 2 Yellow-legged Gulls were in the roost.
- 8: Highlight of the day was a first-winter Caspian Gull which was present on the north shore for 30 minutes.
- 7: The Barn Owl performed well and caught a small rodent. The first Chiffchaff of spring was singing. 7 Oystercatcher and 2 Curlew were seen.
- 6: The first 2 Sand Martin of spring were present.
- 5: An influx of 22 Shoveler was noted, joining the drake Scaup. 4 Curlew, 8 Oystercatcher, 1 Caspian Gull and 1 Yellow-legged Gull were present at dusk.
- 3: 4 Common Gulls and 4 Yellow-legged Gulls were present in the roost.
- 2: 250 Coot, 57 Gadwall, 59 Wigeon, 48 Teal, 1 Shoveler, 72 Tufted Duck and 1 Scaup were counted. 2 Dunlin were on the dam wall.
- 1: A Caspian Gull dropped in briefly and gulls were represented by an adult Mediterranean Gull and 2 second-winter Yellow-legged Gull. Oystercatcher increased to 6 and a single Brambling was near the west marsh.
February 2008
- 28: 4 Yellow-legged Gulls and a first-winter Caspian Gull were in the roost. Little Grebe, Kingfisher, 4 Oystercatcher and 1 Curlew were present.
- 26: An impressive 10 Yellow-legged Gulls were in the roost, consisting of 3 adults, 5 second-winter & 2 first-winter birds. The drake Scaup remained.
- 24: 20 Snipe on the north shore and 3 Oystercatcher were on site.
- 23: At dusk 99 Goldeneye were counted and a Little Owl was near the car park. The gull roost held 2500 Black-headed Gulls, 400 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 20 Herring Gulls and a single Yellow legged Gull.
- 22: A Peregrine flew through, as did a single Goosander. The all white Black-headed Gull roosted. The drake Scaup was still present and a female Stonechat was seen.
- 21: A juvenile Glaucous Gull came into roost mid afternoon. A Curlew flew through.
- 19: A Water Rail showed well in front of the Scott hide, as did a confiding Buzzard at the west end. The female Stonechat appeared to have lost its mate!
- 17: The drake Scaup had now been present for 4 weeks. 2 Shellduck, 83 Goldeneye and 18 Great Crested Grebe were counted. The gull roost included a second-winter Yellow-legged Gull.
- 15: Highlight of the day was a juvenile Iceland Gull which roosted.
- 14: A juvenile and third-winter Iceland Gull, first-winter Caspian Gull, and 4 Yellow-legged Gulls were in the roost. A pair of Pintail were new arrivals.
- 13: A Glaucous Gull and 2 Iceland Gulls were in the roost. A Woodcock flew through early morning and 94 Wigeon were counted.
- 11: The fist Curlew of the year was present, along with 12 Golden Plover, 15 Snipe and 2 Oystercatcher.
- 10: A wildfowl count produced 40 Pochard,68 Tufted Duck,47 Gadwall, 40 Mallard, 72 Wigeon, 65 Teal, 1 Scaup and 11 Great Crested Grebe.
- 9: 2 Green Sandpiper were below the dam. A male Brambling was at the woodland feeding station and over 50 Tree Sparrows at the gazebo feeding station.
- 6: A single Raven flew over today. Another drake Scaup appeared today making a total of 2 on the reserve. 82 Goldeneye and two Yellow-legged Gulls were present at dusk.
- 3: A single Brambling was near the Scott hide. Wildfowl included 66 Pochard, 103 Teal, 134 Wigeon, 87 Gadwall and 335 Coot.
- 1: The frist-winter drake Scaup was still present. There was 400 large gulls in the roost including 3 Yellow-legged Gulls, consisting of an adult, first- and second-winter birds. A pair of Goosander dropped in at dusk.
January 2008
- 31: A drake Scaup was still present, along with a redshank on the north shore. 3 Yellow-legged Gulls were in the roost.
- 30: 92 Goldeneye, 5 Goosander, 1 Scaup, 1 Pintail and 1 drake Mandarin were on site.
- 29: 99 Pochard, 2 Shellduck and 1 Mandarin. A pair of Stonechat remained at the west end.
- 28: 9 Siskin & 8 Lesser Redpoll were in gazebo bay. 95 Pochard, 80 Goldeneye and 2 Goosander at dusk.
- 26: 140 Wigeon, and 82 Gadwall were counted.
- 24: The drake Scaup was still present and a Little Grebe was new for the year.
- 22: a Nordic race Jackdaw remained in the fields below the dam. Pintail and Goosander were fly-overs. A Yellow-legged Gull roosted.
- 21: 50 Golden Plover were at the west end. 2 drake Scaup present today, at the dam end. Pochard have increased to 75.
- 19: 220 Golden Plover & 2000 Lapwing added drama to the reserve, and in turn attracted an immature Peregrine. 2 Nordic Jackdaw were below the dam.
- 18: A Little Owl was near the car park and 2 Raven flew over.13 Lesser Redpoll were in gazebo bay and 46 Snipe were on the north shore. The drake Scaup was feeding near the dam.
- 17: 5 Yellow-legged Gulls roosted.
- 16: Gadwall have increased to 96 and a pair of Pintail were present. 100 Golden Plover and 890 Lapwing graced the reserve. A Caspian Gull was in the roost, in the evening.
- 15: 1 Scaup, 57 Gadwall, 128 Wigeon & 86 Goldeneye. 2 Raven were over the north wood. 7 Lesser Redpoll and 3 Willow Tit were near the gazebo hide.
- 14: 1 Nordic race Jackdaw. 2 Yellow-legged Gulls and an all white Black-headed Gull were in the roost.
- 12: a pair of Stonechat were at the west end and 4 Water Rails were seen. Wildfowl included 1 Scaup, 50 Pochard, 50 Tufted Duck, 130 Teal, 49 Goldeneye, 37 Gadwall, 30 Shoveler, 290 Mallard, 125 Greylag Geese and 7 Great Crested Grebe.
- 7: 3 Nordic Jackdaws were below the dam. The drake Mandarin reappeared and 2 Water Rails were seen.
- 6: 3 Grey Plover roosted on the dam wall. The drake Scaup was in front of the Gazebo hide.
- 5: 4 Grey Partridge and 4 Nordic Jackdaw were below the dam. A single Green Sandpiper was noted and a Goosander was new for the year.
- 3: a juvenile Glaucous Gull roosted.
- 2: 2 Green Sandpiper and 2 Stonechat were present. Drake Mandarin, 210 Teal, 84 Wigeon, 44 Gadwall and 45 Pochard were counted.
- 1: a new years list of 78 species was seen including 1 Glaucous Gull, Green Woodpecker, Yellowhammer, Marsh Tit, Willow Tit, Woodcock, Little Owl, Pintail, Raven, Lesser Redpoll & Mandarin.
